Nutritional Therapy Works!
Mood & Hormonal Imbalances
- “I came to Lara whilst suffering from depression. It was a terrible time in my life, although I was slowly recovering my mood was very up and down, and so i decided to try nutritional therapy as other therapies did not work for me. Seeing Lara was the best thing I ever did, from the start she made me feel so at ease and comfortable, she educated me on how food affects our moods, and sorted out my diet. The food plan was thoroughly designed to take my hormone imbalance (I was also previously diagnosed with PCOS) into consideration, as well as helping with the side effects of the antidepressant I was on, – as anybody has taken them would know are horrendous. Within a week of following Lara’s advice and food plans, my mood began to change, I couldn’t believe it. Lara is simply inspiring and I cannot say enough good things about her. She helped me so much, always thorough in everything she did, she always went out of her way to make sure I was ok with my diet and to make sure I was doing well. she left no stone unturned to help me with my recovery. Thanks to Lara I am now fully recovered. Thank you Lara for helping me get back on track I am always in debted to you, I can not thank you enough for your kindness, patience and understanding.“ Aida* (28), Personal Trainer, London
Aida’s nutritional therapeutic programme has taken drug-nutrient interactions into consideration and together in collaboration with her GP we are now trialing a slow reduction in her current medication regime over the coming six months.*) Names changed for protection.
Skin Conditions & Allergies
“My initial reason for going to see Lara was due to an awkward itching problem that only occurred at night and hence kept me awake for much of the night. I had been to see two separate consultant dermatologists who had both drawn a blank as to what was the cause. Nutritional Therapy was suggested by a colleague and I thought “what have I to lose”. Soon after I had a meeting arranged with Lara. I was a little sceptical at first as I didn’t know much about it and hence suspicious that it might be some kind of pseudo-science. However, it wasn’t long, at that first meeting, before I realised this was a real profession and could be taken seriously. I certainly wasn’t prepared for the depth of detail that Lara investigated my health, diet, work and personal life and history, all in confidence, of course and I was made to feel very at ease enabling this to be a pleasant conversation. Following that Lara produced an extremely logical and coherent argument, with easy to understand sketches, of what happens to the various systems of the body when external factors such as stress, allergens, poor diet etc are present. It was particularly illuminating to see all the bodily systems illustrated as inter-related and interdependent. My experience of the health profession is that they normally look at only one or mostly two systems, causing the particular problem (i.e. in my case the skin and immune system). Following our various meetings Lara followed up with summaries of our meetings and a wealth of information and suggestions. This is where I confess I did expect problems as giving up anything bad has always been a problem. However, I was pleasantly surprised in that there were very few foods that had to be completely cut out; the emphasis was on reducing the bad items and increasing the good ones. This made it far less daunting to follow the advice and to carry on following it. Though I still experienced some itching it was much less acute and more manageable at night. I stopped my corticosteroid medication and was able to manage with over-the-counter anti-histamines. I was also much healthier in general and lost weight without even seeming to try, which was an unexpected benefit. I blame the lack of my own will power for not losing it completely which is borne out by the fact that it gets a lot worse when I find I’m ignoring the advice given. Overall, if you have a problem which the medical fraternity are having difficulty resolving, I would definitely recommend seeing Lara for nutritional therapy.“ David (48), Media Consultant, Winchester
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
- “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your efforts in preparing dietary reports to help me change my diet in order for me to have a much improved digestive system. Over the past decade I have had different investigate procedures in hospital which led to a diagnosis of IBS. After my nutritional therapy sessions my digestion has changed tremendously. Symptoms of pain and bloating has since disappeared as too the occasional rectal bleeding. This is all down to your thorough and comprehensive research and devising a new way of eating. I wish I had known of your fantastic service before! Your kind and understanding approach meant it was easy for me to discuss my ailments freely. I will be recommending your service to friends as I know that other ailments and conditions would benefit with nutritional change. I found the information you gave me very comprehensive and easy to understand which I can refer to time and time again. Thank you!” Louise (40), Swim Coach, Oxford
Chronic pain (Osteoarthritis, frequent migraines and heart burn)
- “As I had severe problems with Osteoarthritis (OA), inherited reoccurring migraines, daily heartburn, and was about 15kg overweight, I realised that I had to look into what food I ate and if I had any deficiencies, as well as reducing the strong medication as much as possible…I was quite clueless about what to eat in relation to my symptoms and my general well-being…and Lara was recommended to me by a colleague. After the second session I could already see that my health had improved thanks to the change of diet and the supplements prescribed by Lara. Lara did careful research into the results, which she presented to me right away. The research result was comforting and removed any concerns I had. At the third session Lara evaluated the additional tests and an appropriate programme was devised. At this stage I had a much better understanding of what the programme is doing thanks to that Lara carefully and patiently explained the cause and effect of medication, food, and supplements. After completing 3 consultation sessions with Lara I have now hardly any heartburn at all, my migraines have since disappeared and best of all is that the unbearable pain in my hip joint is reduced to a lot less which is now also manageable with lighter pain reducing medication.” Magnus (45), Computer Programmer, Essex
When Magnus first came to me, he was in excruciating pain and took 5-6 different medication drugs every single day for the past 6 months to get through his work day. We worked with his GP and got various diagnostic tests done. Various nutrtional deficiencies and gut related problems were found. A dietary and supplement programme was devised. After only 8 weeks Magnus has come of most off his medication (now only required occasionally). We are now working on a targeted weight loss programme for the New Year.
Sports – Athletic Performance
- “ I may have been a difficult candidate as my diet was well balanced to begin with but as I was training for a marathon Lara identified some key areas that could help. She made me aware of what I was eating and more importantly when I was eating which would considerably help my performance. Though I wasn’t completely sticking to all the recommendations, I managed to knock 10 minutes off my personal best and ran it in 3hrs 36mins – so her advice worked. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and advice which was really informative and helpful to me.” Tim (39), Director of Hairdressing Chain, London
Sports Injury
- “Dietary analysis made me fully aware of how my current diet was affecting my life and how an appropriate nutrition could help keep my body running in a healthy way. I found it amazing to discover how some foods could help in the healing process of sports injuries. I recommend it to anybody – those who seek help and advice but also those who think they already have a good diet.” Jean-Louis (34), Investment Banker, London
NLP & Coaching Works!
Interpersonal Relationships & Public Speaking
- “I was interested in NLP as I have heard a lot of positive things about it and wanted to explore ways which could potentially help me with some relationship issues. I also wanted to know how to improve my confidence when for example speaking in front of a large group. Altogether I had four sessions with Lara and I not only thoroughly enjoyed the sessions but found the different coping techniques Lara taught me very useful. It was also great to analyse certain patterns in my childhood and to find some things that had affected me that I was totally unaware of. Lara is calm and very professional and I felt very comfortable in sharing sometimes very personal details about myself with her. I would definitely recommend Lara as a NLP practitioner and I would at a later stage like to have some more sessions with her.“ Jannike (30), NHS Project Manager, London
A Client’s Experience with NLP vs. Standard Counselling Therapy
- “I didn’t realise how many good moments and experiences there actually were in my life, as you tend to forget them when you are ‘gloomy’”, “I was so upbeat, ‘geared up’ and motivated when I got out of the sessions.” “My interest in NLP came from a recommendation from a colleague. At this time there were a lot of stresses in my life (financial debts, pregnancy issues, work issues, relationship issues) that I was trying to deal with and was experiencing the feeling of anger which was new for me and I was not knowing how to manage that feeling. There was also a feeling of being overwhelmed by everything and not being able to see the wood for the trees. When I came to see Lara, I was at the end of counselling therapy (which I had had in the past also) but was finding it difficult in that it was depressing me as it entailed talking about the negatives over and over. I found myself readdressing old issues that I had previously talked about in other counselling sessions. I found that after each therapy session I was feeling low in mood and tearful and sometimes depressed, I didn’t feel it was particularly helping me to move forward. It did however allow me to explore this new feeling of anger. For me, NLP was more beneficial. It allowed me to look back on my life and realise that as well as some of the hurtful things that have happened there were also a lot of positives and that I have been happy in the past. NLP gave me the opportunity to explore these good times and feelings in detail and left me feeling refreshed, positive and able to look to the future with a positive determination rather than a negative feeling of hopelessness. I felt lighter. The sessions themselves were comfortable and enjoyable and I found that I was looking forward to them especially if I was feeling particularly low that day. For me this result was unexpected. At the time of starting the NLP sessions I was feeling that this was it for my life and things were going to be this bad for a very long time and that it was not going to be possible to reach contentment for many years. At the end of NLP I was able to reach back and feel happiness and reassess my life and found encouragement and strength for the future. It allowed me to explore the negatives and positives in each situation I was being faced with and “sort them out” in my mind which consequently allowed me to make decisions and move forward. As a result of NLP I took the step of applying for a new job, and took a new position at another hospital, which left me feeling very positive. It has also encouraged me to continue with changes to my lifestyle in that I have continued with running rather than doing it for a few weeks and then giving up. Thank you so much for all you have done for me. I truly have learnt a lot.” Nancy (36), NHS Nurse, London
Nancy and her husband have continued to make changes and have since met with me for nutritional therapy sessions to support their pre-conception efforts to start a family.
